I’m so shit at drawing people and want to get better so am starting a new project: Fan Art Friday! I feel the most beautiful thing about traditional fan art is the imperfection in it, and the unbridled adoration with which it is created. First cab off the rank: Oprah!!!!
I find inspiration in so many different places. Books, music, travelling, overheard conversations…I think it’s really important to have a bank of stuff in your memory / mind’s eye (/ computer!) that you can draw upon when you feel a little lost or uninspired. I find that so many things I was exposed to when I was a kid (namely Sesame Street, my Mum’s artwork and the pictures we had hanging in my childhood home) still regularly pop back into my mind. I have no doubt that these things helped shape my aesthetic and inform the images I create today. The above are just a few of my favourite images!
Some new (and old) friends we made last week in Broken Hill, Wilcannia and Menindee with Heaps Decent! I really am so lucky to have an opportunity like this one – to visit the outback – a place close to my heart, and to meet and work with many incredible and talented young people.
I just returned from a week of workshops in regional NSW with my buddies at Heaps Decent! We visited schools in Broken Hill, Menindee and Wilcannia and made a bunch of new songs! Themes included the outback (naturally), going out, playing football and zombies! I worked alongside the young people in making a bunch of stop motion animations – can’t wait to put them up once they’ve been through a little “post production”!
